Klinker Slips for Long-Lasting ETICS Facades

Slips made from high-grade clay combine external insulation with a genuine klinker facade — impact-resistant, colourfast and free of algae growth.

What are klinker slips?

Klinker slips are thin facing elements fired from the same high-grade clay as a solid klinker brick. They share the surface, colour depth and frost resistance of classic exposed masonry, at a fraction of the weight and without a foundation of their own.

That makes klinker possible where a cavity wall is not: on external thermal insulation composite systems, in renovation, on storey additions, or anywhere the wall build-up has to stay slim.

Why conventional ETICS facades age early

Rendered external insulation systems often fail to reach 20 years before renewal or repair is needed. The cause lies in how the materials interact — above all in render thicknesses of typically less than 3 mm. Typical damage patterns:

  • Render surface vulnerable to mechanical damage
  • Cracking caused by thermal expansion
  • Early algae growth and soiling from condensation
  • Fading and an uneven overall appearance

The klinker insulation composite

A klinker slip facade solves the problem at its root: the ceramic surface protects the insulation much as the outer leaf of a cavity wall would, damping temperature swings before they reach the insulant. The result is a durable, mechanically and thermally robust, crack-free ETICS facade.

Fired clay is mineral, non-combustible and coloured all the way through — the colour comes from the raw material, not from a coating. A klinker facade does not fade over the years; it gains character.

Colours, formats and surfaces

Slips are available in the same colour families and surfaces as the rest of our klinker range — from extruded through water-struck to hand-moulded, in reds, browns, yellows, greys and nuanced multi-tones. Corners and window reveals can be detailed cleanly.

Which format, surface and bond suits your project depends on scale, substrate and the system chosen. We advise on site or at our showroom in Gisikon and supply samples you can hold.
