The MONOBRICK offers a high thermal insulation value without an additional insulation layer — one material, one wall, one trade.

The traditional Central Switzerland brickworks Schumacher Körbligen surprises with a completely new type of brick for highly thermal-insulating masonry. Ziegelei Schumacher AG's MONOBRICK insulating brick is made from pure, fired clay, gently extracted from our own nearby clay pit «Pfaffwil». The roughly 20-million-year-old raw material is transported by our own narrow-gauge railway to the production plant 1.2 km away, and processed into a pure natural product using the latest production technology and the most modern environmental standards.
It meets the highest requirements of eco-bau and Minergie-Eco in terms of ecological and health standards.
Thanks to an extra-large perforation ratio of 51 percent, the novel tongue-and-groove connection, and precision-ground bearing surfaces on the top and bottom, the monolithic wall achieves a thermal conductivity of λ = 0.074 W/mK. The bricks are laid with 2 mm mortar pads. This design enables the MONOBRICK's outstanding thermal insulation capability — a wall construction without additional thermal insulation on the exterior wall.
The zipper-like interlocking of the vertical joints gives MONOBRICK masonry a thermal-bridge-free heat transfer with optimal heat storage.
The long thermal storage capacity is achieved through a specially developed porosification process that makes the fired clay light and thermally sluggish. On summer days, excess solar heat is stored in the wall and released to the outside only during the cooler evening hours. This protects the indoor climate from uncomfortably high indoor temperatures, especially during prolonged hot spells. Less heating is required during the transitional months.
The capillary clay structure contributes to a comfortable, healthy living climate — it optimally regulates the moisture balance in the building. The masonry also achieves the MINERGIE standard and is particularly suitable for single- and multi-storey multi-family buildings. Available in four wall thicknesses from 30 cm to 49 cm.

The DRS slab-edge formwork plug-in system made of Neopor is optimised for thermal bridges and sound. It has high inherent rigidity thanks to a joint-free, predefined interlocking offset. The pluggable inner part acts as a soft zone to absorb slab movements. Thanks to a Psi value of 0.06 W/(mK) per Eurocode 6, thermal bridges at the slab edge are effectively minimised.
DRSE corner elements are available for both internal and external corners.
All values in accordance with the current declaration of performance per EN 771-1. The figures in the respective declarations of performance are authoritative.
